LRAS continues to work with the City of Langford (Parks and Fire Rescue) and Greater Victoria Green Team (GVGT) on improving the sustainability and safety of our parks in Langford. We will continue our stewardship of Westhills Park; contributing to general clean up, removal of invasive species, and making the park fire smart (reducing fire risk). In 2025, we have a total of 4 community events planned in Westhills Park on March 15th, May 24th, September 13th and October 25th. We will also provide support to any other Langford events that GVGT may run...so there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in our community. All members are welcome. More specifics below with the "find out more" button.
We haven't quite cracked the nut on the huge challenge of advocating for a community youth space in Langford, but that doesn't mean we've forgot about the youth of our community.
NEW YOUTH EVENT OCTOBER 20TH.
Langford Youth and their Westshore friends are all invited to a free evening of board game fun at the Outpost Board Game Cafe in Langford on October 20th starting at 6 PM.
All West Shore youth (13-19) are included, so come out and play some board games for free from 6 PM to 10 PM. Come with friends or come to make new friends. This event is hosted by the Outpost and sponsored by the Langford Residents Association (LRAS) as part of our continuing efforts to support youth and community building. Youth engagement and involvement in our community is a LRAS priority.
NEW EVENT!!! For the second year in a row we have been successful in planning another excellent community event for newcomers to Canada.
"BC Newcomers Information Evening" October 29th
All residents, especially those new to Canada, are invited to drop in to the Langford Masonic Hall on October 29th from 5PM to 7PM. There will be multiple agencies with booths set up to provide information on the services available to those residents that are new to Canada and live in the West Shore. The event is a collaborative effort between the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society as part of their BC Newcomer Services Program and the Langford Residents Association (LRAS) as part of their continuing efforts to build community. All residents can play a role in attending these type of events in order to keep the discussion and engagement alive. Hopefully, we can aim to have that applicable level of support, for the newest Canadians in our community, located within the city of Langford...vice downtown. We hope to see you at the event!!
