Lots of activity clearing this patch...in the background is the "before picture"...the next batch of broom to be attacked.
Collected piles of woody debris and invasive broom...all highly flammable and unsightly. This park, nestled amongst Westhills homes, is now tidier and safer. The city of Langford picks up these piles and disposes of them.
Here's the hard working team of volunteers consisting of members from Greater Victoria Green Team, LRAS, Langford Parks, Langford Council and Langford Fire Rescue. Great teamwork and a great partnership!!
As with all these community clean up events, Langford Fire always has a great team of volunteers supporting the effort. Thanks Langford Fire Rescue!!!

Before picture...slope covered in flammable broom and gorse.
After picture...now that this area is cleared we will be working with the City of Langford to eventually plant native and firesmart plants to beautify as well as making it harder for invasives to return.
As always, our community clean up events are highly supported by volunteers from Langford Fire Rescue...they are such a great group to be partnered with !!!
